The U14M is the very latest semi rugged notebook from the Durabook range. According to an independent study, 18 percent of commercial notebook computers are physically damaged and returned for repair in the first year of ownership. Of these damaged notebook computers, over 60% are damaged from accidental drops and over 30% are damaged from liquid spills.
The Durabook line of notebook computers has been developed for this very reason. All Durabook models feature a rugged design that delivers added protection from normal everyday mishaps for your notebook computer's vital components – the hard disk drive, LCD display, motherboard, optical drive and battery.
Compliant to Mil-Std 810F, the U14M is designed for use in harsh environment siutations. The U14M subject to a number of stringent tests. In this first test the U14M is dropped in non-operating mode onto each face, edge and corner for a total of 26 drops from a height of 29 inches onto a two-inch-thick plywood over concrete surface.
Most consumer notebook computers simply aren't capable of withstanding vibration. The U14M is specifically built to withstand damage caused to electrical equipment through vibration ensuing that your data is always kept safe.
We all know that resting a coffee or drink too close to our computers isn't the safest way to go but we all do it. Spills happen, but spills don't need to spell disaster for our notebooks. That's why the U14M is specifically designed to survive spills that would normally cause a consumer notebook to fail.
